Japan Airlines is showing some sub-$1000 flights to Bangkok, Thailand (BKK) from Ottawa on certain date combinations.
One example is September 16 to September 26...

The other interesting thing about this fare is that it's with Japan Airlines, which is a pretty nice airline that gets a 4 star rating over at Skytrax. Usually the cheapest fares to Bangkok are with United, and even then, they're not this cheap, typically bottoming out at $1200-$1300.
Other date combinations throughout the year with Japan Airlines have dropped as well, but the sub-$1000 prices appear to be pretty rare.

I watched this deal for a couple of days, using Toronto as the departure city. the price went down $200 and I jumped at JAL sept 1-26 Toronto - Bangkok for $961.
